Books for Special Needs Kids – Julia Cook Interview
Last year I wrote a review about a book I bought from Amazon from author Julia Cook. She contacted me and sent my daughter a few of the other books that she has written. My youngest daughter has autism and some very scary, negative behaviors as a result of her autism symptoms. The books that we got from Julia were perfect for helping my daughter to see what that looks like to the people around her (when she behaves likes the book’s character) and, even better, gives her ideas of how to handle her behaviors and emotions better.
The books were such a hit in our home, that I invited Julia to be a guest on our show and she was terrific!
She gave lots of suggestions and talked about how adults can help the kids in their lives deal with these negative emotions that they are faced with every day, along with the positive emotions too. Sometimes, it’s all too overwhelming.
