National Award-Winning Author, Julia Cook
Author, Julia Cook, explains her books and how they help kids
I recently wrote a review of several books about helping kids deal with their emotions and the behaviors that result from them. After posting the review about the RJ books by Author, Julia Cook, I was contacted by the author and personally thanked for sharing my experience.
I asked Julia if she could be a guest on Special Needs Kids Talk Radio and she said yes! Today we chatted about how and why she writes these terrific books for kids. You can listen here, or listen by clicking on the audio player below.
While Julia Cook’s books aren’t aimed specifically at kids with special needs, they can certainly help with important behaviors and emotions that kids with special needs have.
In a quest to find ways to demonstrate good behavior choices for children with autism like my young daughter, I found the RJ books byJulia Cook
I’m so thankful that I did, because they have given us hope that she can understand what the right choices are in each type of situation. I was lead to look for books with specific situations because my daughter was choosing to act out by using negative words, physical actions and running away when she was stressed out or angry.
I found and chose two of the RJ Books by Julia Cook.
Julia let us in on how her book ideas come to her, and how the team developes each idea into a tool for kids and the adults that try to help them, like parents and teachers.
Toward the end, Julia shared some awesome tips that can help parents and caregivers to help their kids deal with tragedies like the Boston Bombings and the New Town shootings.
Please listen = it’s a half hour conversation and you can always pause and come back to it.
PS. Julia said that if you order her books directly from her website at www.juliacookonline.com, she’ll sign your copies!
