Saige American Girl Doll of the Year 2013 Birthday Present
Last year, Nove (my daughter) got Saige, the American Girl Doll of the Year 2013, for her birthday. That doll has gone everywhere with us! Shopping, the doctors, eating dinner at many restaurants. She loves that doll and wants some of the accessories that go with her.
Saige is still available online at Amazon.com, but she costs a pretty penny.
Don’t worry too much. These dolls are truly an investment and are really well made.
Since Saige is last year’s Doll of the year, you can’t get her through the American Girl Doll store anymore.
American Girl of 2013, Saige Doll
I first saw Saige in her movie while Nove was watching it, and I really liked the character and her story. When my daughter said she really loved Saige too, I made up my mind to get her the doll for her birthday last year.
Just like in the movie, Saige comes in the main outfit featured in the show, but you can buy some additional clothing and accessories for her too.
Saige Doll comes in an indigo knit dress with cropped sleeves, geometric embroidery reminiscent of southwestern art, and a tiered skirt. Tall leather-look boots with wrap straps A turquoise-colored ring to bring out her eyes, plus fun earrings Blue cotton underwear The Saige doll has a huggable cloth body, and her

The Saige doll has a huggable cloth body, and her shoulders, head and hips are articulated.
Some of our favorite features are her freckles and red hair. She’s really a beautiful doll.
Paperback Book
When you order the set, you also get the paperback book of Saige’s story. She’s quite creative and loves to paint, but she also has a kind heart. Her story centers around her trying to keep a program alive in school.
Much like the other American Girl Dolls, Saige has determination in most things, but has a few lessons to learn while working toward her goals.
What do you think of the American Girl Doll line, and Saige in particular?

I have heard of this doll. There are quite a few in the collection I believe. They are a big seller in the states aren’t they.

This actually makes me tear up a bit. My daughter doesn’t have any American girls – living abroad, I yearn for her to know more about them.

I’ve never heard of the American Girl Dolls series, but I can certainly see why your daughter liked Saige. My daughter doesn’t really take to dolls at the moment. She has a monkey that she’s had since she was two months old, and it never leaves her side now.

This doll is very cute and I can certainly understand why Nove would love her. I never really got into dolls when I was smaller. I was the tom-boy of the family.
I am sure that this doll would make any girl happy to own and play with. Are there others in the family that play with dolls besides Nove?

What a cute doll! I love the American Girl line. I had one when I was little. She was so adorable. Recently, I received one of the 18-inch dolls from Madame Alexander and I really love her, too. 🙂

I raised a son so didn’t have personal experience with American Girl. I know a number of my co-worker’s girls loved the American Girl dolls and the parents felt pressured to buy them. There’s I do know I’ve seen at least one of the books. It took place, I think, during the Civil War. I think it would have been enjoyed by any girl interested in history. I think I may also have seen an American Girl doll patterned after a Jewish immigrant to NYC at the turn of the 20th century in a Hanukkah museum here in the Binghamton, New York area.

I’ve never heard of American Girl Dolls – but then I’m a Brit! I agree with Tamala, she reminds me a bit of Cabbage Patch Dolls with more hair! Cute 🙂

I think Saige is wonderful! I’d love to buy one for my niece, who will be turning 5 in a couple weeks. But alas, you said she’s not available any more. Anyone have a place where I could get one?

Nove feels the same way about her. She has Kit also – we got her from the Goodwill store for next to nothing.

I cracked up when she put Saige on the scooter and the hair dresser chair, and just about anything else she could be put on too!

We have Saige and my daughter plays with it almost every day. It isn’t an investment to her, it’s a friend.

I cannot wait until my daughter is old enough for an American Girl doll. Also I kinda cracked up at the little dolly scooter picture 🙂
